5052 aluminum alloy offers excellent machinability.
- It is easier to machine in its hardened state than in its annealed state, and the final product quality is better when machined in the hardened state.
- Oil-based lubricants should be used during machining, but very light cuts can be done dry.
- This alloy is easy to cold work and can be shaped through drawing or spinning. However, continuous cold working will reduce formability.
